By Shirley, Parent of Ian B
Larkfield Youth have been together as a team since 1999. They have a very supportive Manager and Coach who dedicate a lot of time trying to run the team. They take part in a number of tournaments and in 2004 were successful winners of the Larkfield Tournament, which made them all very proud. The team itself is made up of young people who have a variety of disabilities and is the only team of its kind that exists in Kent. All the team members are very supportive of each other and are a very friendly bunch of young people. Their Manager also organises other team activities, such as discos so that they can relax together off the pitch and have fun. The parents also are very supportive of the team and all they achieve. I hope that they have a good time and enjoy the football that they play.

The Team Management
Sue Sloane
Sue has been managing this team which she started up with her husband Mo in 1999 under the guidance of Ian Greenland. Sue as the manager, is the one who does all the chatting and arranges all the fixtures.
Sue is a south londoner; Sue is a Charlton supporter ! !
Mo Sloane
Mo is the coach. He has a level 1 coaching certificate and is also our first aider.
He is the one who does all the hard work with the team on the training pitch.
Thanks mainly to his son Tom, he has become a loyal Westham supporter. (under the same roof as a Charlton supporter? ooooh!)
Mandy Painter
Mandy is our team's treasurer and she is responsible for looking after the financial side of things. Mandy keeps Sue under control and stops her from spending too much!

A little bit of History
A Bit More History
The team was formed in 1999 because a couple called Moe and Sue Sloane had 3 sons, they were called Josh, Ollie and Tom.
Tom and Ollie were becoming upset as Josh played for a Larkfield league side and he kept coming home with trophies.
Ollie and Tom wanted the chance to play football, so Moe and Sue formed,(with the guidance of the late Ian Greenland), a team that was especially for boys and girls with special needs/learning difficulties so as to give them the chance to play football. The team found that it generated a lot of interest in the Larkfield and Ditton area and more players soon joined.

Thanks to the parents
A bit about some of the important people…. The parents, without them our team would find it difficult to get to their fixtures. Thanks to them our team has games at Feltham, Brighton, Erith Horsham and v.i. training at Charlton Athletic and Arsenal.
A thank you from the players...it is appreciated.

Victorius! Well done the Lads

Squad profiles
NICK
This lad is a midfielder who tends to play mainly on the wings, as he likes to get crosses in. He has a lethal right foot and can score goals from the tightest of angles. He is son of Gillingham Legend, Steve Lovell. Nick has a lot of taste being a Gillingham supporter!
BEN
This lad is a very hard working midfielder who works all over the pitch and his dribbling ability is sensational. He is always determined to win and scores some brilliant goals from midfield and he also sets up lots of chances. This lad is a Gillingham fan, which of course automatically makes him a football genius!
DAN
This lad is a very committed midfielder who can also play in defence. He works all over the pitch making good tackles and interceptions.
CHRIS
This lad is a defensive midfielder who can set up chances and makes good tackles all over the pitch. He is a MILLWALL supporter (boooooo) and is the crazy person of the team who makes us laugh with his ways of doing things!
ANDY
This lad quite often feels that he has let the team down, but he never does. He is a committed and determined defender that isn't scared to get in the way of shots. He makes good interceptions and is a very solid defender.
OLLIE
This lad tends to sit quietly in our defence making good tackles and interceptions. He is a Newcastle supporter and a very committed member of the team.
TOM (TOMO)
This lad can play in a number of positions but tends to play in defence. Tom is big and strong and has a powerful kick, which is very useful for the team. He is a Westham supporter along with our coach Mo (Don't worry they will learn one day).
IAN B (IASY)
I am writing about myself. I can play in every single position but I mainly play either in midfield or upfront. I believe I can score goals and set up chances for this team because I have good off the ball movement. I also like to do my fair share of defending. I support Gillingham, which is easily the best team in the world (except Larkfield Youth of course)!
MALCOLM (MALCO)
This lad is an excellent midfielder who scores goals and sets up chances for teamates. He is very tall and causes the opposition problems in set pieces, as he is brilliant at heading the ball. He has a real dislike to Man United, which shows he has sence!
JOESPH (JOE)
This lad is an attacking midfielder who scores goals and sets up chances for the strikers. He can also play in defence if needed as well. He supports Tottenham, which simply isn't allowed!
ROSS
This lad is our goalkeeper. He is a brilliant goalie with a safe pair of hands and he has excellent agility! He is very quick to get to the ball and isn't scared. He can also play in midfield, which he does sometimes.
KAREN (KAY)
This is the only girl in the senior team. She plays as a striker or an attacking midfielder. She likes to move out wide and get crosses into the box and her off the ball movement always confuses opposition defenders
PETER
This lad is an out and out striker who will score you goals if the midfield can get the ball to his feet inside the area.
MITCHELL (MITCH)
This lad is a midfielder who runs his socks off up and down the pitch. He will score you goals as he makes lots of runs into the box from midfield. He can play as a striker as well if needed. He is a Chelsea supporter (he knows Arsenal will win the league every season though)!

Larkfield Tournament 2004.
On Sunday 20th June 2004 at Cobdown Sports Club we won the Larkfield Tournament on a very wet day. We got to the final and won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Malcolm H and this is the biggest achievement that this team has achieved. We were all so happy that we won it and we will never forget this very special day for our team.
